Option Description

Students will perform with intention and purpose and investigate a range of drama styles, purposes, and points of view. They will explore, experience, evaluate, and question how drama has been and can be used to express cultural identity, tell stories, and reinforce or challenge social and political ideas. In this course students will write and develop their own script suitable for performance and interpret texts. They will study a range of live performances analysing, critiquing, interpreting and studying the overall production to establish performance intention and explore context.

Drama provides a strong foundation when entering Communications degrees, Journalism, Tourism, Teaching, Writing, Law, Public Relations, Event Management, Human Resources and other non Arts based Degrees.
Assessment Information
Assessment in Drama will be by practical performances for live audiences accompanied by supporting evidence (written or recorded), written submissions and evidence of engagement and collaboration.This course will include both internal and external standards.
The external standard will require students to attend and analyze a live performance they have seen during the year.

You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.

Only students engaged in learning and achievement derived from Te Marautanga o Aotearoa are eligible to be awarded these subjects as part of the requirement for 14 credits in each of three subjects.
