Level 3 English Literature (UE Lit - R/W)
Option Description

This course of study is for students with an enjoyment and appreciation of English literature and language, and is strongly advised for students wishing to study humanity subjects at university level. Level 3 English demands analysis of language and literature, and requires critical thinking. The course involves an in depth study into a wide range of literature, visual texts, unfamiliar texts and close viewing of film.
Students focus on • Critical analysis of language in context of prose and poetry • Development of creative and formal writing skills • Development of oral presentation skills • Close reading of a range of texts such as fiction, film, poetry • In class discussion • Oral and written analysis • Essay writing • Research.
Students are given the opportunity to sit TWO external exam papers and FOUR internals spread across the academic year. It also allows the students to gain literacy credits for entrance into university.
