Level 2 Sport Leadership

The year 12 Sports Leadership and performance course will engage learners in a wide range of practical sporting and exercise opportunities. Akonga will develop knowledge of Adventure based learning (ABL) activities, leadership and interpersonal skills, which they will practice in a variety of contexts. Akonga will also develop and implement risk analysis strategies for a recreational activity.
The emphasis of the course is the develop skills and knowledge in a range of activities/sports. This provides an opportunity for personal and social development, where akonga understand the importance of working together with peers and the community. Unit standards are largely based at school, but there are a few field trip components. The purpose of these is to develop and apply the skills and knowledge learnt in class.
Level 2 Sports Leadership course will suit akonga who are confident in communication and leading activities, events and coaching students’ sports skills. This course has the potential to lead into exciting career opportunities and gain further qualifications in the Sport and Recreation field, such as (and not limited to) Education, Health Professions, Fitness Industries, Sports Coaching, Event Management, and Outdoor Activities Instructor.
