Industry Pathways Level 2
Option Description
This course offers students the opportunity to gain a personal understanding of their strengths and skills, develop their job searching skills, and gain work experience in a vocational pathway that interests them. Students also gain an understanding of the workplace environment and earning an income.
In addition to the class teaching units, students are offered a Gateway (work experience) placement which could offer approximately 20 credits at Level 2 or above.
Recommended Prior Learning
Students participating in the Industry Pathways programme at Year 12 must choose a Gateway (Work Experience) Placement. This requires students to attend a minimum of 10 days in a workplace which can be done either one day per week during term time, or during the school holidays. A Gateway placement also includes attending a training course and/or completing learning and assessments towards an NCEA Level 2 vocational pathway qualification. Gateway programmes on offer are available from the following: Retail, Distribution and Sales; Sport and Recreation; Travel and Tourism; Building and Construction; Automotive Engineering; Customer Service.
